The Chalfont St. Giles Residents' Association was formed in 1964 with the following aims:

Over the years, the Residents' Association has been an active watchdog, what its then Chairman called a form of assurance for the village. We are always vigilant in planning matters, intervening often when we feel Green Belt policies are being ignored or there is a threat to our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Today, approximately 600 of the 2100 households in the parish are members, so when we do get involved, our voice carries weight. But we need more support, more members and more funds if the Association is to continue to have any influence in an increasingly compartmentalised world. Indifferent bureaucracy, lack of policing, the huge increase in vandalism, ever-increasing traffic, and the ineffectiveness of local government all create problems that can only be combated by organisations like ours.

Here's what we do:

But to do all this we need you. So why not join the Residents' Association now? Membership costs are very modest (only 3 annually or 7.50 for three years), and as a member you will also receive our lively quarterly magazine Focus, which contains all the local news together with a listing of forthcoming village events and short feature articles of historical interest.

To join, contact Richard Bickford, Membership Secretary, Gorelands Corner, Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Giles HP8 4HQ.
